Stonehenge Cromlech

The Lewis Family* at Stonehenge in front of a Cromlech (1952)

ONE PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSANDS WORDS – as the saying goes. But, let’s say now, that since Stonehenge was gifted to the United Kingdom in October 1918 by local landowners Cecil and Mary Chubb, I should cut the text of this post from 1,000 down to one-tenth of that so as to celebrate 100 years of Stonehenge.  Thus, the world’s most famous prehistoric monument has ever since then belonged to everyone and also marked a turning point in the way the ancient stones are looked after.
